Have you ever stayed somewhere steeped in history, with unrivalled views over rolling countryside or with exclusive access to unique properties? Crammed with character and lovingly brought back to life, all our holiday accommodation offers something that's a little bit out of the ordinary. We have hundreds of holiday properties across England, Wales and Northern Ireland, from cosy cottages, to historic hotels, bothies, bunkhouses and campsites.
What’s more, not only will you get to enjoy a memorable break, but the money from your holiday helps care for the future of the nature, beauty and history that surrounds these special places for years to come.
Since the 1940’s we’ve provided holiday accommodation. Experience life in a medieval cottage, enjoy the seaside glamour of an Art-Deco villa or uncover stories of the past at a smuggler’s lookout cottage peering out over the cliffs. Working with local craftspeople and historians, we’ve carefully restored over 400 properties with modern features that are fresh and in keeping with its period.
We have a wide range of unique and unusual holiday accommodation offering the opportunity for an extraordinary getaway. There's everything from turreted towers, lighthouses, listed lodges, farmhouses, fisherman’s cottages, mansions and even a former observatory. Some even have a claim to fame as the former homes of famous historical figures, or have starred in much-loved films and TV shows.
All our accommodation is situated in stunning locations perfect for your holiday. Many are located in the historic houses, gardens, parkland and on the coastline we care for, from Cragside in Northumberland, to Lizard Point in Cornwall. You'll also find lakeside hideaways, beachfront escapes, riverside retreats and rural getaways that’ll help you get back in touch with nature.
Book a stay at one of our holiday cottages or bunkhouses and you'll get the added bonus of free access to National Trust places during your stay (excluding car parks). Plus, for some of the properties that sit within the grounds of the estates we care for, you’ll get the added benefit of out-of-hours access, so you can explore the gardens and grounds outside of ordinary opening hours.
Our customer service team are open seven days a week to help with any questions about your booking or during your stay.
When you book with us, the money helps look after the place you’re staying in and contributes to the conservation of other special places too. Every year we restore around ten cottages, keeping alive historic and unique buildings which would otherwise have been lost to time. Your holiday also supports the Trust’s work as Europe’s largest conservation charity.
Enjoy a fun-filled break with the family this year at one of our cottages. Cycle through woods, surf the waves or enjoy some family down-time surrounded by extraordinary views as you dine al fresco and stay up late to watch the stars.
We have over 160 dog-friendly cottages and there's no extra charge to bring your four-legged friend. What's more, over 100 cottages can accommodate multiple dogs, so you can bring the whole pack along. You'll find plenty of places to stretch their legs nearby, from coast paths and beaches to rolling parkland and open countryside.
Whether you want to relax and unwind or have an adventure with family and friends, our disabled access holidays are perfect for everyone. Our modified cottages in idyllic locations are thoughtfully equipped and comfortable to help cater for everyone.
Nothing beats a walking holiday in the great outdoors. Forget your headphones and let nature be the music in your ears as you complete multiple walks, discovering new landscapes and conquering high peaks.
Spend your summer by the coast at one of our unique coastal cottages. With cottages by the beach, sea view apartments and cliff-top retreats, you can holiday to some of the nation's best coastline.
Don't just explore a city, be part of its cultural heritage when you stay in one of our restored houses. Swap hotel rooms and buffet breakfasts for quirky, characterful rooms in self-catering historic houses.
