Whitegates Cottage, in the Lincolnshire Wolds, was built from traditional mud and stud walls with a thatched roof, and has original features from the low-beamed ceilings to the doors and the floors. It's a short drive to the heart of the Gunby Estate which is free for you to visit during opening hours. A peaceful country retreat built in 1700 for the Massingberd family, Gunby has a historic house full of treasured collections, Victorian walled gardens, a tea-room and paths through 1,500 acres of peaceful countryside. There are trails of different lengths to choose from, from the Gunby ice house pond walk to the Monksthorpe Chapel walk.

Explore the Lincolnshire Wolds National Landscape, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with rolling hills and hidden valleys. Or head to the coast, which is less than half an hour away.

Heating: Oil-filled electric heaters in sitting room, dining room and bedroom. Night storage heaters in kitchen, shower room and utility. The fire in the lounge uses coal.

Induction Hob: Guests with a pacemaker should note that there is an induction hob in this cottage.

Parking: There is parking available for one car.

WiFi: We’re pleased to provide free WiFi access at this accommodation, which is supported by BT. Please note intermittent connection problems can sometimes occur and therefore should not be relied upon

Please note: This cottage is not suitable for children under the age of 12.

There is restricted head height throughout the cottage and a steep and narrow staircase.

We currently have Japanese Knotweed growing along the back of the house. We are taking the necessary steps to eradicate this. As this weed is so highly invasive and can grow from small fragments broken off, can we please ask guests to avoid the area where it is growing so that they do not stand on it and inadvertently break a piece, which will root and grow, thereby increasing the problem.
