Visiting Lacock Abbey with your dog

An assistance dog

Take time to explore the countryside around Lacock with your four-legged friend. We have plenty of walks for you to enjoy.

Where can my dog go?

Assistance dogs are welcome throughout the Abbey. Please make sure they are wearing their identity harness.

Other dogs on short leads are welcome in the Abbey grounds 1 September to 31 March only.

There is a dog-walking area adjacent to the main car park, and at the bottom of this page there's a link to some of the walking routes around Lacock.

What do I need to be aware of?

To make sure everyone has an enjoyable day, please follow our Canine Code:

  • Take the lead: help reduce the chance of your pup disturbing wildlife by keeping them on a lead.
  • Scoop that poop: bag it and bin it to keep your favourite places beautiful.
  • Paws for thought: look out for information signs.
  • Be on the ball: not everyone loves dogs, so keep them close by.

Please be aware the fields around the Abbey are used for grazing livestock. Keep your dog on a lead if you are out and about.
