Heritage Open Days 2019

From 13-22 September 2019, the Heritage Open Days festival returns with a packed programme of activities. This annual festival, now in its 25th year, celebrates our diverse history, architecture and culture, so you can visit many of the places we care for entirely for free. Here's a taster of what's on offer and some of the places to explore near you.

The lawns in the Botanic Garden at Lacock Abbey

100 years of Lacock WI

On 9 September 1919, a meeting was held at Lacock Abbey and the decision was made to found a Women's Institute for Lacock village. Now, 100 years later to the day, this exhibition opens to shed a light on the last century of Lacock Women's Institute. The exhibition takes place in the Manger Barn, not usually open to the public, as part of Heritage Open Days.
