Winter walks at Sherborne

The watermeadows in winter

You could spot wigeon and teal, little egrets and kingfishers on a walk through the watermeadows in winter.

In Autumn 2019 work was started to improve the paths and tracks through the Sherborne Park Estate.

The paths through the watermeadows have been resurfaced and are now accessible throughout the year. Parking is available at Northfield Barn (GL54 3DN).

Follow the waymarkers to go on a wander through the watermeadows and spot some of the birds that visit in the winter.

Popular with wigeon, teal, and little egrets, you can also spot kingfishers and even occasionally a visiting osprey.

The watermeadow walks are a series of connected paths through the special habitat. New paths have also been opened in this area to create circular walks, however please note that the waymarkers have not yet been installed for these routes.)

Please see the information boards at Northfield Barn car park for the most up to date information.
