Come and play at Longshaw this summer

Children enjoying archery

We've created a new summer trail for little legs as well as a huge hill climb for intrepid adventurers. We're throwing the gates of the Moorland Discovery Centre open so that you can come and play. We hope you'll feel welcome to visit again and again this summer.

With a dedicated sports leader on hand every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, you can come and enjoy fun and games in the Moorland Discovery Centre.  We've got archery, badminton, table tennis and sports day games.  On Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, you're welcome to pick a frisbee or bat and ball out of our sports box or mess around in the bird hide tent.  Or wander inside and peer into microscopes to see feathers and snake skins up close and personal.

Explore the woods and wildlife gardens around the Discovery Centre on our short trail.  You'll find posts with pictures on to take rubbings and whimsical activities to try.

Or if you're feeling really intrepid, why not embark on our 4.5 mile long trail, a big walk up a huge hill and one of your 50 things to do before you're 11 ¾?  Pick up a trail map and head out on a big adventure.

We've got the Boggart Trail and the Northern Hairy Wood Ant trail and of course lots of places to come and picnic, relax and enjoy the summer.
