Marloes Sands Renovation Project
Marloes Sands is one of the most stunning locations that Pembrokeshire has to offer, with incredible seascapes and an abundance of wildlife. We are currently in the process of renovating our car park at Marloes to rejuvenate the area and make it more accessible for all people to enjoy.
The ongoing construction at Marloes Sands car park marks the start of a major National Trust project that includes a new visitor welcome building, improved car park surface and a refresh of signage, information and interpretation to create a "wow' welcome for the thousands of visitors who enjoy the destination every year. You can find out more about the project here.
The current works will run from early January to the end of March 2020 and will see the replacement of the existing pot-holed and dusty car-park surface with a re-enforced grass surface with sustainable drainage. There will also be an additional pay & display machine and a new electric vehicle charging point. It also includes works to improve access to the ever-popular Runwayskiln café.
Whilst the work takes place, plans have been introduced to ensure at least 25 spaces will remain available in the car-park so as to ensure that visitors should always have access to this incredible landscape.
The project is part-funded by a £120,000 grant towards the project through the Welsh Government’s Tourism Amenity Investment Support scheme, funded by the Welsh Government’s Rural Communities – Rural Development Programme 2014-2020, which is funded by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development and Welsh Government
Inevitably, there will be some disruption and inconvenience during the construction. National Trust are working closely with our contractors (A Williams Contract Services) to minimise disruption and are very keen to ensure they work with our neighbours and visitors to minimise disruption.
