Rose Fest at Morden Hall Park
During Rose Fest the Garden Centre terrace will be blooming with the best of our roses. Pick up something new, bring your gardening questions for Jim Buttress and panel to answer, listen to experts talk about topics as diverse as natural pest control and rose breeding, or join a tour of our historic rose garden. Rose Fest runs from Saturday 8 June to Sunday 16 June.
Garden Centre terrace in bloom
Take advantage of special offers on roses at Morden Hall Park Garden Centre this week. All of our roses are grown peat free and are fragrant as well as beautiful. We have knowledgable staff on hand to give you advice on care products and choosing the best rose for your garden.
We are supplied with heritage varieties by Trevor White, a lovely example of which is an Alba rose called 'Maiden's Blush' dating back to before the 15th century. Our English climbers and modern shrub roses come from David Austin and we stock a good range of patio and celebration roses from the National Trust's Lanhydrock nursery.
Help from the experts
Struggling with a knotty rose problem? Book in to come to our gardener's question time-style event where Jim Buttress and panel will give you the benefit of their advice.
Brush up your knowledge
This year we have a varied programme of rose talks for you to come to. Book your space and join us for a behind-the-scenes view of rose breeding from Andrew Rollings of David Austin, an exploration of peat free gardening with Ellen Corke of Prenplants, a guide to natural pest control with Julian Ives of Dragonfli and an insight into the world of plant conservation with Simon Toomer of the National Trust.
Secrets of the rose garden
Tours of our rose garden will be running on selected dates throughout the week. The rose garden dates from the 1920s and is gradually being restored to its former splendour. Reserve your place on a tour to find out a bit about the history and what our plans are for the future, as well as all about how we care for the rose garden now. Donations are welcome.
Rose Fest treats
If all this activity makes you want to sit down and drink tea, the Stableyard and Potting Shed cafés will be open all week to allow you to do just that. Relax and enjoy a sandwich, special rosewater shortbread or rose-scented non-alcoholic bubbles in the Stableyard courtyard or on the riverside terrace outside the Potting Shed Cafe.
