Volunteers turn good events into amazing experiences. With lots of different ways for you to get involved, find out more about what you can bring to the Conversation.

Mount Stewart Conversations is a two-day festival on 14 and 15 October that will see some of the best minds in literature, politics, arts, music and performance come together in one place to create something truly magical.

And the really exciting part is that YOU can be part of this unique event by joining the volunteer team.
Whether you are free to participate in the whole weekend, or you’d just like to do a single shift, your help will be invaluable to the success of the event.

Artist Liasion Volunteer Conversations 2017


With a love of big events and great interpersonal skills, you will take care of the speakers, performers and artists at Mount Stewart Conversations on 14 and 15 October 2017, an unmissable celebration of literature, music, politics and the arts.

Event Runner Volunteers

With a love of big events and an ability to get stuck in to make sure all goes really well, Event Runner Volunteers will be integral to ensuring our visitors to Mount Stewart Conversations have a great time and our team has fantastic operational support.

Your primary role will be to assist our Events Team who are responsible for the safe delivery of the Mount Stewart Conversations Festival. This will be a physically demanding role which could involve helping to set up or move staging and other infrastructure as well as helping to keep our whole site safe and presentable.

Event Welcome Volunteer

If you like being part of vibrant, fast-paced events and have an understanding of what makes a great visitor experience then this could be the role for you. Event Welcome Volunteers will help our visitors to Mount Stewart Conversations have a really brilliant time.

You’ll be on hand as a friendly face, to point people in the right direction, to offer information and to help each visitor get what they need from their visit. Event Welcome Volunteers will assist in keeping our Conversation venues running smoothly through welcoming our visitors, taking tickets where needed, showing people to their seats and keeping the areas clean and tidy.

Team Welfare Volunteer

With great hospitality skills and an understanding of how keeping our team members happy and well cared for allows everything to run smoothly, Team Welfare Volunteers will play an important role in the success of Mount Stewart Conversations.

You will help ensure that all team members at Mount Stewart Conversations, both staff and volunteers, have a great experience right from the time they arrive on site through to assisting at the team registration point at the beginning of the day and helping team members get ready to deliver a brilliant event.

Throughout the event, Team Welfare Volunteers will be on hand as a friendly face to welcome team members on breaks back to the Team Hub based in our Education Centre and to keep the tea and biscuits coming!

Mount Stewart Team Welfare Conversations

MIDAS trained Volunteer Minibus Driver

MIDAS trained minibus drivers will contribute to the smooth running of Mount Stewart Conversations by transporting visitors from the car parks to the main event site.

You’ll be a friendly and welcoming face to all our visitors, helping passengers on and off the minibus and driving from the car parks to the main event site. We’ll also make sure you know your way around Mount Stewart so that you are able to provide direction or information for visitors when required.

Volunteer Information Sessions

We are hosting Information Sessions on Wednesday 13 September between 10am and 1pm and on Saturday 16 September between 10.30am and 1.30pm. It is preferred that you attend one of these sessions, but you can also contact the team to arrange to meet separately if you cannot attend.

Those who go on to volunteer at the event itself must attend an Induction and Training Session, either on Friday 6 or Saturday 7 October. Both sessions are between 10am and 1pm and during them we’ll make sure you have all the information and support you need to understand your volunteering role and look forward to enjoying Mount Stewart Conversations Festival!
