Family fun at Nostell
Bring all the family on weekends and during school holidays for lots of things to do in the house, gardens and parkland.
Holiday fun, 5 days a week
Join us every school holiday for activities, 5 days a week. We've a different thing to do each day, following the themes described below. For details and dates of the Easter holiday activities, running Saturday 10 - Sunday 23 April, head to our what's on page.
Bring your wellies and prepare to get messy on these hands-on days in the gardens. You could be making scarecrows, planting seeds to take home or making mud pies – the one guarantee is you’re going to get mucky!
50 things to do before you're 11 ¾ Tuesdays
Bring along your scrapbook of 50 Things to do before you’re 11 ¾ as these days are jam-packed with activities you can tick off the list. Get stuck in and learn a new skill with led activities such as den building, geocaching and making wild art. Whilst you’re here, see how many others you can tick off – find a hill to roll down and go on a really long walk through the parkland and gardens.
Burn off some energy in the big outdoors with these active days. You can play cricket and volleyball on the vista and if you enjoy fun on two wheels, join us for a led bike ride from 1pm, starting off in front of the house.
Sticky fingers at the ready for a day of creative crafts! You’ll make seasonal creations to take home from Easter decorations to Christmas crackers.
Pot Luck Fridays
From indoor crafts and story-telling to outdoor games and activities, anything could happen on Pot Luck Friday! Bring along your imagination and sense of adventure for this day of surprises.
Dress up and make believe
As you explore the house, look out for the butler and housekeeper in traditional dress. See if you can beat them at the kind of games that Victorian children would have played and learn how servants lived at Nostell. Don't miss the chance to dress up in the servants' quarters of the house. You can get all the family involved with smocks, hats and overcoats to help you step into character.
The great outdoors
We have 300 acres of parkland and gardens to explore so pack up a picnic and set out on a family adventure. The winding garden paths are perfect for playing hide and seek and you’ll see lots of nature along the way. Listen out for the woodpeckers as you explore the woodland, spot herons, swans and ducks as you walk along the lakeside paths and look out for bats feeding at dusk.
Don’t forget to swing by the adventure playground on your visit - we've everything from wobble dishes and totter beams to spring horses, sound rollers and wooden playhouses. New this year is a brand new zip wire, which is a whopping 30 metres long!
