Brilliant books this February half term
Enjoy a literature inspired week of activities this February half-term.
Whether books make you laugh out loud or hide beneath the covers, the thrill of a good book is hard to beat whatever your age. During the school holidays come for bookmark making and a fun children’s trail. Kids can also get creative by rhyming in our poetry corner or just let their imaginations run wild by writing a brand new story. On the 25 and 26 February dress up as your favourite book character, enjoy family storytelling and come along to our special book swap, so dig out your long forgotten tales and swap them for a new adventure.
Throughout the week look no further for inspiration than in our book cover inspired exhibition ‘A book by its cover’ another fascinating collection of original works from the Chris Beetles Gallery. Uncovering the work from some of the most famous and least known book illustrators, spanning the past two centuries, enjoy the work of artists including Sara Midda, Paul Cox, S R Badmin and Fred Banbery, the illustrator of Paddington Bear.
Exhibition ‘A book by its cover’ displayed until Sunday 19 March.
Any spare books will be gratefully received for our charity pre-loved bookshop.
