Get your sea legs on
Fancy a tractor ride as part of your journey to Overbeck’s ? The South Sands passenger Ferry runs between Whitestrand, in the centre of Salcombe, and the picturesque beach of South Sands, which is just three quarters of a mile from Overbeck’s. The ferry runs until 27 October, weather permitting. www.southsandsferry.co.uk
Set sail to Salcombe
It is a rare opportunity to travel by boat and experience the famous 'sea tractor', which travels out into the water to greet the ferry as it arrives at South Sands Beach.
Stroll on up to Overbeck’s and see for yourselves the panoramic view along the estuary to Salcombe and out to sea. You may even spot the next ferry bobbing along in the fresh air.
Once you are here there is plenty to do. Explore the sub-tropical garden full of rare and exotic plants and trees. Learn about the history of Overbeck’s, including its time as a World War One convalescent hospital. We have children’s trails for the garden and museum. The shop is packed with gifts and mementos to take home to remind you of your day at Overbeck’s. The tea room offers a range of delicious salads, sandwiches, tea and cakes, but if ice-cream is the order of the day then they have plenty of flavours to choose from too.
To check the sailing times for the ferry then go to their website at www.southsandsferry.co.uk or maybe give them a ring on 01548 561035.
