Sudbury Stable Yard is home to our second-hand bookshop. Located in what was once the loose boxes for the Vernon family’s horses and more recently used as storage for our gardeners. We’re pleased to be able to open this small corner of Sudbury to the public. It's filled to the brim with books and it’s proving popular, but want to know the best bit? Money made from book sales go towards the ongoing upkeep and projects here at Sudbury.
Looking after Sudbury
It’s fact not fiction that it’s a huge undertaking looking after Sudbury Hall, the Museum of Childhood and our collections. Money raised by our second-hand bookshop goes right back into our essential conservation projects, maintenance and general upkeep. So every book you enjoy is saving a little bit of Sudbury.
Make a donation
The warm reception and support we’ve recieved since opening the shop has been overwhelming, with stock flying off the shelves. As a result it means we’re always looking for more donations. We don’t mind what genre or children’s books just as long as they are in good condition. We're now accepting vinyl records too, as we know this can be a popular second-hand goodie! We can accept stock donations during normal opening hours but if you have a particularly large donation it might be worth giving us a ring beforehand to avoid busy times.
Our bookshop heroes
If you’ve visited our bookshop you’ve probably met one of our lovely volunteers, we wouldn’t be able to do it without them. They’ve put in a lot of work behind the scenes to get it up and running and we couldn’t be more impressed. All of the books you see are sorted and priced by hand and believe us when we say we’ve got a LOT of books! If you’d like to come and help out in our bookshop make sure you give us a call or ask a member of our team.
We of course have a selection of new books for sale in our gift shop from gardening to interiors and cooking. We always have new seasonal stock so if you're looking for a treat for yourself or perhaps a gift we're bound to have something to suit you. Why not pop over for a browse and see what other goodies you can find?
