Fun Run at Sutton Hoo
On Sunday 13 October 2019 our fundraising Fun Run is returning to Sutton Hoo, raising money for the exciting changes which form part of our National Lottery Heritage Fund funded project.
You may have been for a walk around Sutton Hoo, but have you ever taken a run through the spectacular scenery of the site?
After a successful first year, the Sutton Hoo 5K Fun Run is back by popular demand, and with an all-new route to try out.
Taking you on a dramatic course past the Royal Burial Ground, through the valleys and deep into the heart of our woodland, there’s no better way to experience the Sutton Hoo landscape.
A link to download this map detailing the exact route is available at the bottom of this page.
As the route travels through the countryside, the terrain will vary over the whole course from woodland paths, gravel to tarmac roads. Anyone familiar with the site will know that there are no large mountains to scale but you will be going up and down the valleys, so there will be some incline to challenge yourselves on.
Whether you take part to challenge yourself or just for fun, you’ll be in for an exhilarating run. All ages and abilities are welcome as well as canine friends! Participants under 16 are more than welcome to join us as well, but will need to either be accompanied by a parent or guardian, or provide written permission.
There will be a timing clock at the end to see how well you did and a medal for completing the course.
Whatever your reason, the aim is to have fun - and all whilst you’re helping to support us with our ‘Releasing the Sutton Hoo Story’ major project, transforming your experience of Sutton Hoo.
The race itself will begin at 9.00am with registration opening at 8.00am.
On registration you will receive your number where you can fill in your name on the back, as well as an emergency contact and any extra information which might be helpful in an emergency (for instance, allergies).
Faster runners will be placed towards the front, and those with dogs (on short leads please!) at the back.
Our café will be open throughout the entire event for hot and cold food and drinks – a perfect reward for finishing, perhaps?
Pre-booked £12.50 adults £6 kids, £30 family
On the day £15 adults £7.50 kids, £40 family
There are only 350 available – so book yours soon!
All of the money from your entry will be going directly towards our fundraising goal for our National Lottery Heritage Fund Project, helping us to transform Sutton Hoo.
