Group visits to Treasurer's House
Come along and discover the rich mixture of period settings covering a range of historical fashions, all created by one man, Frank Green, between 1897 and 1930.
Bring your group
Tucked away in the shadow of York Minster, the 17th century Treasurer's House with its beautiful gardens is an oasis of calm away from the hustle and bustle of the city centre.
We can make your visit to York city centre memorable with bespoke tours, delicious treats and a warm welcome.
Tempting treats below stairs
The recently refurbished Below Stairs Café is far away from the madding crowd in the heart of this historic house. From morning coffee and cake, light lunches and afternoon teas, all tasty treats are home-made and locally sourced recipes.
The cafe is licensed, has waitress service and can cater for groups of 15 to 40, and we can give you exclusive out-of-hours use, and private room functions. We are happy to arrange set menus, seasonal and themed options and can cater for special dietary requirements.
" Great uplifting story of restoration and preservation. Some splendid staff bring the place alive and are very knowledgeable and obviously love the place rightly so. Wonderful bits of furniture, some fascinating paintings, brilliant views and a café. I shall be back with family and friends in tow. Thank you."
Tours to hidden parts of the house
If your group has a thirst for history, you can choose to follow the professional guide to the basement and cellar depths and ponder over the mysterious ghostly event that took place there in 1953. Or if you’ve got a head for heights, head up into the attics to the old servants quarters, and get a chance to see some superb views over York.
A visit and therefore admission charge to the rest of the house is not necessary to enjoy the tours. Tours cost £4 per adult and £3.50 per child.
If you want to ensure your group gets a tour - please ask about this as part of your booking and we will strive to tailor the offer to suit your needs where possible. Confirmation will depend on numbers in the group and the availability of the guide.
Stop by the shop
Pick up your Treasurer's House souvenirs at the shop below stairs or pop round the corner to our high street National Trust shop for a superb range of treasures for home and garden. Every penny you spend supports the conservation and care of the places we look after.
