Ben Taffinder: Solo Exhibition

Ben Taffinder's approach is both physical and disciplined.
Physically, most of his work in initiated ‘plein air’, observing and absorbing occurrences at his time of visit, the state of the sea, the nature of the clouds, how the landscape revealed itself at the time of his visit.
Ben’s discipline is to find the places where things meet or change: where land meets sea, sky touches the ground, boats sit upon water, human habitations fitted into the landscape; these are the shapes of the things his artist’s eyes seeks. Upon his canvas, these shapes are expressed in broad, bold areas of thick, richly pigmented paint, building up a matrix to create the composition of his paintings.
The end result is works of genuine distinction. Paintings that reveal, in Ben’s words, ‘the grain of the land’ shared through the clear eyes of a highly talented artist.
Preview Ben's work here and see the exhibition at Trelissick Gallery from Saturday 18 May to Wednesday 12 June 2019.
