The Somerset Bodgers
Tucked in a corner of the upper courtyard at Home Farm is the home of the Somerset Bodgers, a group of skilled craftspeople who offer courses and workshops in this historic craft.
The Somerset Bodgers are a local group affiliated to the National Association of Pole Lathe Turners and Green Woodworkers. Their aim is to promote green woodworking and keep alive ancient skills.
You can usually spot them in their home in the upper courtyard of Home Farm on Mondays and Fridays, between 10am - 3pm, but you might spot them on other days of the week when they are working on comissions or running courses.
The bodgers use timber harvested from across the National Trust's Bristol sites, and so regularly have interesting pieces of wood for sale, or can use to create a specially comissioned item.
There are also regular woodworking courses, from spoon carving to making your own chair. These are a great opportunity to learn a new skill, or a unique gift.
