Things are different this year at Tyntesfield

Throughout 2018, we're working on a major conservation project to replace the fire alarm system in the Victorian Gothic house at Tyntesfield.

What are we doing? 

Over the course of our fire alarm replacement project, rooms throughout the house will open and close and many of the items in Tyntesfield's collection will be moving to make way for the works.

The Gibbs family bought Tyntes Place in 1843 and transformed it into the Victorian Gothic masterpiece that exists today.

A lot of work goes into caring for a Victorian house and its historic collection.

In November, our conservation team are working hard to return many of the 60,000 items in Tyntesfield's collection to their storerooms as our fire alarm replacement project comes to an end.

Some areas of the house may be closed during the work, but others will be open to you can have a peek at what the team are up to.

Pre-book your visit to the house 

During our project to replace our fire alarm system, you will need a site pass to visit the house. These are available for time slots throughout the day and can also be picked up on the day from the Ticket Office, but please be aware that numbers are limited.
