Join in the Vintage Tea Dance
Join us for the last of this year's 1940s inspired Tea Dances on Saturday 10 September, 4pm - 6pm.
Jenny and Richard were world champions and teach locally. They love a good tea dance and will be on hand to lead you through the dancing. Learn the basics of several dances which would have been enjoyed in the 1940s in this fun and easy-to-follow class.
Tea and Cake
Choose from the selection of treats popular in the 1940s - jam tarts, fruit cake and sweet glory buns. All served on a beautiful selection of vintage china, kindly donated, to help you enjoy the event.
Make the most of the day
Timed to perfection, we suggest you come along early, visit the house and gardens (and maybe the restaurant too) and get a feel for the 1940s. The items and clothes on show in the female dormitories in particular give a real flavour of what it might have been like getting ready for the very popular tea dances of the period.
Early entry to the gardens and restaurant is included with your Tea Dance ticket. House entry is free to National Trust members and £11.50 for non-members. Timed tickets for the house are required and they can be pre-booked online or they can be collected on the day from visitor reception on a first come first served basis.
