May half term trail

Join us at Anglesey Abbey for a fun, family-friendly trail inspired by the book Ben Plants a Butterfly Garden, illustrated by Axel Scheffler.

  • Booking not needed
  • Free event (admission applies)

This May half term, come and complete an activity trail inspired by the book Ben Plants a Butterfly Garden. Join Ben on an adventure around Anglesey Abbey as he finds out all about how flowers and butterflies grow.

Have a go at the wheelbarrow race, plant some seeds and feed the caterpillars by throwing the beanbags into the targets. Full of active and sensory games, the trail will run from 24 May to 1 June. Pick up a trail map at the visitor centre then float and flutter your way around the trail, learning how to grow a butterfly garden of your own as you go. You can follow the signs and instructions around the gardens, which tell the story of Ben and his friends Worm and Ladybird, all beautifully illustrated by Axel Scheffler.

The trail is free (normal admission to Anglesey Abbey applies) and runs from 9.30am to 5.30pm every day throughout May half term. Please note that last entry to Anglesey Abbey is at 4.30pm in May and June.
