Winter Walks

When the frost forms and the leaves fall, the Dunham Massey Park is the perfect place to venture for a winter walk. The silhouettes of the fallow deer are easier to spot through the ancient trees, and the historic buildings take on a new beauty. In the gardens, the winding paths of the UK's largest Winter Garden beckon you in for an explore.

Family daytime event: Seasonal Stories - Jolly Robin’s Christmas Party

24 Nov - 22 Dec (Fri - Mon), multiple timings, pre-booking advised

Join in the fun this Christmas with a very merry, interactive storytelling adventure. Celebrate with Jolly Robin and their woodland friends at their festive party. A magical, memory-making expereince packed with Christmas joy and adventure.

After the story, take home a party bag including festive shaped crayons, colouring sheet, set of Jolly Robin stickers, and a hanging ornament to decorate at home.

Family daytime trail: Jolly Robin’s Winter Walk

9 Nov - 21 Jan, 10am - 4pm, included with general admission

Follow this lovely trail to help Jolly Robin find their song and put a spring back in their step! With sparkling frost, life-giving rain and the opportunity to make boots muddy, winter can be lots of fun.

Pull on your coat, embrace the cold and enjoy the sensory delights of the season. Find out top winter facts, wander past historical buildings and ancient trees. Don’t forget to stop for some deer spotting and enjoy a hot drink in the restaurant or café when little legs tire.

Family drop-in: The Festive Book Nook

9 Nov - 2 Jan, 10am - 4pm, included with general admission
Since the conservation of the roof in 2022, the beautiful Orangery has been a haven for potted plants, well-loved stories, and tired legs. From Thursday 9 November, children and families can escape inside this historic space and enjoy a seasonal read on the wing-backed chair, or a comfy cusion.

Located on the formal lown and overlooking the Dunham Massey House, this is the perfect place for families to share a festive tale together.

Evening light trail: Christmas at Dunham Massey

17 Nov - 31 Dec, multiple timings, pre-booking essential

Masses of twinkling lights and giant glowing deer welcome you to the beautiful and iconic atmosphere of Dunham Massey after dark. This is a landscape of colour-changing lights, tunnels of stars, and larger than life illuminated flowers that tower overhead.

Firmly positioned as a must-see within the UK’s festive calendar, Christmas at Dunham Massey has everything you need for an unforgettable experience with friends and family.

Lunch in the Stables Restaurant

4 - 22 Dec, 12noon - 2.30pm, booking essential.

The Stables Restaurant is perhaps at it's most beautiful during Christmas time when decorations embellish this historic venue, and from 4 till 22 December, we'll be serving pre-booked Christmas Lunch. Whether you're a turkey fan, or prefer a vegan option, this is the ideal location for a festive gathering with good food and company.

Gifts and treats in the shop

The gift shop at Dunham Massey is one of the National Trust’s largest. During the run up to Christmas expect inspirational books, comforting textiles and local produce.

Don’t forget to treat yourself – beautiful tree and home decorations are a lovely extra self-present!
