Walk the walls at Lyme - free guided walk

Join knowledgeable members of the Dry Stone Walling Association guide on a free guided walk to find out more about the work that goes in to conserving the miles of dry stone walls at Lyme.

  • Booking advisable
  • Free event (admission applies)

Did you know it costs approximately £12,000 to maintain Lyme's dry stone walls every year? Explore Lyme's 18 miles of dry stone walls. Find out more about how we conserve and restore these walls and the work of our dedicated team of walling volunteers on this free guided walk. On the way you'll see exceptional views of surrounding Manchester and Cheshire, and pass by ancient woodlands and historic follies, which have provided the backdrop to Lyme for centuries. Please meet at the Refreshment Kiosk in the Car Park at 10.15am. The route is of moderate difficulty and will take approximately 1.5 hours. The ground along the route can be steep in places and uneven at times. The route includes a flight of steps and a ladder stile. Children are welcome; however, this route is not suitable for pushchairs. Dogs on leads are welcome. Entry to our places are free for members.
