Doors to Hallowtide is an interactive outdoor art installation by Stockport artist-curator Luca Sutton.
At a time of year when the boundary between worlds is said to grow thin, ten mysterious doors have appeared across the landscape at Lyme. Hidden among the gardens, woodlands and parkland, the installation invites you to knock, peek and step through the doors as you explore the landscape and uncover the stories behind them.
Inspired by the traditions of All Hallows' Eve, All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day, every door has been uniquely decorated and draws on local folklore, historic customs and Lyme's most haunting tales. Discover the legend of the White Lady, the eerie story of the skeleton in the Knight's Bedroom, and other ghostly tales connected to the estate's past.
Begin your exploration at the historic Chapel, where you'll find information about the trail and the locations of the doors. Scan the QR code at each doorway to uncover the folklore, traditions and chilling stories that inspired its design.

Sturdy footwear is essential as some paths are uneven. Please also wear weather appropriate clothing.

The installation is located across the landscape at Lyme. To visit all of the doors, expect to walk approximately 6 kilometres (3.7 miles), with around 150 metres of elevation gain along the route.
