For Christmas 2023 we invited you into Godolphin House across three weekends in December, enjoyed the beautiful sounds of local choirs in the King's Room, and experienced a traditional Christmas with decorations sourced from the wider estate. We also enjoyed bespoke workshops to get you in the festive spirit, with wreath making and candle making all taking place in the beautiful surroundings of Godolphin House.

Christmas house experience

Come and explore Godolphin house traditionally decorated for the festive season. Have a go at making your own pomander decoration in the dining room to take home with you or gift to a loved one, and enjoy festive hot drinks, mulled wine and mince pies. The house is open Sat 2 - Sun 3 Dec, Sat 9 - Sun 10 Dec, Sat 16 - Sun 17 Dec, 10.30 am - 4pm (last entry at 3pm).

Or join one of our exclsuive house tours and see Godolphin decorated for Christmas as part of a small group guided by one of our volunteers. These tours will take place on Wed 6, Fri 8, Mon 11 and Wed 13 December. Normal admission applies, and tickets will be issued on arrival at the Welcome Hut.

Wreath making in Godolphin House

Get ready for the festive season by making your own Christmas wreath under the guidance of our expert florist Joi. The workshops take place in the entrance hall of the historic Godolphin House. Beautiful foliage from the Godolphin estate and from our local suppliers will be provided to create your own masterpiece. Take a break with tea, coffee, mulled wine and mince pies in the kitchen. Tickets are £55.

Candle and Lip Balm making in Godolphin House

Come and join our resident bee keeper and make your own bees wax candles using wax harvested from her hives and take away your festive creations to give as gifts or enjoy for yourself! Watch her demonstration on making other bees wax products that you can make at home. Workshops take place in the entrance hall of Godolphin House. Tickets are £25, which includes tea and coffee.

Christmas choirs

Join us on one of our house experience weekends and enjoy the performances of five local musical groups who will be filling Godolphin with their performances of Christmas carols and music.

The Celtic Fiddlers will be performing on Sat 2 Dec between 2pm - 3pm. The Local Vocalz Choir will be performing in the King's Room on Sun 3 Dec from 1.15pm-2.45pm. Recorder group, Consort Sorelle, will perform on Sat 9 Dec between 12pm and 1:30pm. Singers from ‘Dawn Chorus’ and 'Levow an Bys' will perform on Sun 10 Dec between 12pm and 1:30pm. The Barbed Choir will perform on Sun 17 Dec between 12pm and 1:30pm.

Christmas crafts

Let's get crafting this Christmas! Create your own Christmas decorations in the cider house and either take your decoration home with you or help us decorate the Christmas tree.

Join the festive, free & fun Tinsel10 trail run around Godolphin estate, on Sunday 17 December!

Christmas fancy dress welcome and make sure to come prepared for a muddy route. Post run hot drinks & festive treats available from the Piggery cafe.

Winter Stroll Around Godolphin

No trip to Godolphin is complete without an exploration of the countryside which surrounds it. Throw on your thick jumpers, hats and winter boots and head to the countryside to enjoy a winter walks around the wider estate of Godolphin.

With over 500 acres of diverse countryside, you can take in the views from the summit of Godolphin Hill where on a clear day you can see two coastlines, stroll through ancient mining landscape in Godolphin Woods or venture along and enjoy the tranquility of the River Hayle. Wherever you choose to explore, the diversity and wildlife of the Cornish countryside is never far away from Godolphin this Christmas.
