‘A woman's place' exhibition at Castle Drogo
A group of local female artists, known as ‘Herding Cats’, have come together to exhibit a collection of artwork celebrating the lives of the women of Castle Drogo.
- Booking not needed
- Free event (admission applies)
The 15 female artists work in a variety of mediums: ceramic, textiles, paintings, and 3D work, and each artist has a unique vision to peel back the untold truths.
Sara Venner, Herding Cats artist said: “The Herding Cats Arts Collective is honoured to represent the women of Drogo at 'A Woman's Place' exhibition this March within the solid walls of Castle Drogo. It has been fascinating working with the Castle Drogo historians team to delve into the life of those who walked the corridors of the castle. As artists, we are the voices of the women lost to history, revealing feminine lives lived in different times. I feel my work has been enriched by its historical context".
The exhibition pieces are being displayed throughout the castle and visitors are able to see how the pieces relate to the rooms and spaces.
The exhibition is a free event, however normal admission to the castle and gardens applies.
