Experience Aesop’s fables at Knightshayes this Easter. Come and play on an interactive trail inspired by Aesop’s animal tales and William Burges’s playful designs, making Knightshayes the perfect setting for a fun, challenge filled adventure.

Step into a world of storytelling and discovery with an interactive family trail inspired by Aesop’s timeless fables and the imaginative vision of Victorian architect William Burges. Known for his love of bold colour and richly detailed decoration, Burges filled Knightshayes with flamboyant animal motifs woven through its furniture and interiors. As you explore the beautiful house and grounds, you'll encounter a variety of fun tasks and puzzles that bring Aesop’s timeless tales to life. From the clever fox to the determined tortoise, each stop on the trail offers a chance to learn valuable lessons through play and discovery. Along the way, spot the animals that echo Burges’ designs and see how stories and architecture come together in this fun Easter experience for all ages. Don't forget to collect your chocolate egg at the end! Easter Adventures will run from Saturday 28 March - Sunday 19 April. The price for each trail is £3.50 per child and includes a trail map and a chocolate egg. Normal admission fees apply. Dogs on a short lead are welcome in the garden.

What to bring and wear

The trail is mostly outdoors, so please dress appropriately for the weather

Accessibility

The trail runs through the garden and downstairs of the house. It is suitable for pushchairs and motorised mobility vehicles. There are hills and slopes on some sections of the path.

Other

Trail packs include an activity sheet and a Rainforest Alliance chocolate egg or an allergen-free alternative. Dogs on a short lead are also welcome on the trail.
