Join local artist Rose-Marie MJ for an inspiring gouache workshop where you’ll learn her essential techniques to capture the charm of a much-loved chaffinch perched gracefully on a cherry blossom tree. This hands-on experience invites you to unleash your creativity, try a new medium, explore painting techniques, connect with other creative individuals, and bring nature to life on canvas.
Perfect for beginners and those with a little experience, no previous art knowledge or skills are needed!
Rose will guide you step-by-step, from the initial sketching to the gouache techniques needed to capture delicate feathers and soft blossoms. With assistance at every stage, Rose will provide a breakdown of each part, encouraging you to paint confidently and effortlessly while enjoying the therapeutic benefits that come with creating art.
All materials are provided, so there’s no need to bring anything on the day.
There will be a 30-45 minute lunch break in the middle and regular short breaks throughout the session (at some points, we’ll need to let the paint dry!). There will also be opportunities to grab a quick coffee and snack in the café.

- What to bring and wear
All materials are included so there’s no need to bring anything with you but a creative interest! Regular clothes are fine, as gouache is a fairly tidy medium.
- Accessibility
Tinkley Gate Carpark has accessible parking spaces where blue badge holders park for free and a drop-off zone in front of the cafe front door. The cafe has a power assisted front door and an accessible toilet.
