We’re Going on a Bear Hunt, is coming to The Vyne 16 May – 28 June, 10am-4pm. Get ready to swish, splash and squelch your way through the new sensory trail to find the bear.

The much-loved picture book and award-winning animation will be brought to life in the grounds of The Vyne through a series of interactive installations, emulating the journey undertaken by the family at the heart of the story.


Follow in the characters’ footsteps to brave the elements. Roam through swishy swashy grass, conquer thick oozy mud, brave swirling whirling snowstorms and tiptoe through a cave in search of the bear. You can’t go over it. You can’t go under it. You’ve got to go through it!


The National Trust is working in collaboration with Walker Productions and Lupus Films, the production team behind the stunning animation based on the best-selling children’s book We’re Going on a Bear Hunt, published by Walker Books.


Over the last 30 years, We’re Going on a Bear Hunt has enchanted children and parents alike with its story of perseverance, optimism and a love of nature, selling more than 14 million books worldwide in 42 languages. Author Michael Rosen’s retelling of this classic picture book has exceeded 20 million views on YouTube.


Fantastic fun for all ages, round up your friends and family and see who will be the first one to spot the bear.


Trail is included in normal admission. 16 May to 28 June, 10am to 4pm. Enter the gardens via Visitor Reception and collect your free trail booklet. Picnics welcome on site, plus a tea-room located between the main house and gift shop serves hot and cold drinks as well as handy top-up snacks.

This February half-term, don't miss free event Pirate Puzzle Challenge in the gardens running 14-22 February, 10am-4pm. Looking ahead, Easter egg hunt at The Vyne returns 21 March to 6 April 10am-4pm. Easter trail sheet and egg £3.50. From 16 May to 28 June, We’re Going on a Bear Hunt is coming to The Vyne. Normal admission applies.
