Heritage Open Day at Knole

Celebrate Heritage Open Day at Knole on Tuesday 15 September with free entry for all in the showrooms and Gatehouse Tower and why not join a free archaeology guided walk.

Heritage Open Days is England's largest festival of history and culture, bringing together local people, organisations, and thousands of volunteers. Every year, people come together across England to celebrate their heritage, community, and history.

On Tuesday 15 September only, admission to Knole will be free for all. This includes to the showrooms, Gatehouse Tower and car park. Showrooms and Gatehouse Tower are open 11am-4pm, last entry 3.30pm.

We will also be offering a free guided walk - 'The Changing Faces of Knole: An archaeology walk' - where you can discover the fascinating history of the parkland at Knole. It also includes a look inside the historic icehouse from the newly installed viewing platform. The tour will run 11.30am-12.15pm and will start in Stone Court. Please pick up a tour lanyard from the Visitor Centre by 11.20am if you like to join the tour. There are 12 spaces allocated on a first come first served basis on the day.

Pre-booking your free admission is recommended to guarantee entry and booking dates for Tuesday 15 September will go live from Thursday 20 August.

Accessibility

Lifts are available to access the Orangery and the gift shop. Brewhouse Cafe and Royal Oak Conservation Studio are fully wheelchair accessible. The Great Hall in the showrooms is accessible to wheelchair users. Access to the rest of Showrooms is via a staircase. Access to the Gatehouse Tower is via 77 steep spiral steps only. Contact 01732 462100 to discuss any access needs.
