Step into the magic of Christmas at Speke Hall. Explore rooms dressed for the season with sparkle and tradition, follow mischievous Merry Mice on their festive adventures, and wander through our Community Christmas Tree Orchard that's been created with local community groups.

You can also enjoy evenings of carols and festive music in the Great Hall, or join us for a Sherlock Holmes Christmas mystery brought to life on stage. From family Christmas events to twinkling trees, Speke Hall is the perfect place to celebrate the joys of the season near Liverpool.

Christmas Opening Weekends

House

Open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays between November 29 and December 22, 12.30pm to 4pm (last entry at 3.30pm).

Booking is not required, and admission is included in the price of a property ticket (free for National Trust members, under 5s and carers).

Please note: During our Christmas weekends, the first floor of the Hall will be closed due to conservation work that will help protect and maintain the property for everyone, for ever.

Storytime with Father Christmas
Father Christmas has made his way to Speke Hall, and he wants to share some festive tales with you. After the storytelling, children will have a special moment to meet Father Christmas, share their Christmas wishes, and take a memorable photo.Book your tickets
Quiet Storytime with Father Christmas (Neurodiverse Friendly)
Bring your little ones for a special quiet visit and join Father Christmas as he reads you a short story to get you into the Christmas spirit.Book your tickets
House Decoration
Step inside an enchanting house ready to welcome you into the festive season. Each room has been lovingly decorated to bring you wonder, sparkle and moments of joy. Enjoy fresh garlands, twinkling trees and take in the sights, smells and sounds of Christmas.
Merry Mice Family Trail
‘Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house, not a creature was stirring, except for a mouse…’. The merry mice of Speke Hall are back and getting ready to celebrate Christmas with us. Look closely in each beautifully decorated room to find out what festive activities they are getting up to.
Community Christmas Trees
Our Community Christmas Tree Orchard is back for its second year. Wander through the beautiful traditional Orchard and look at the decorations that have been created by some of our local community groups and partners. Merry Mice Winter Trail
It’s not just inside the house that the Merry Mice of Speke Hall have been busy. They’ve been scampering around the gardens and grounds and have got up to all sorts of festive and wonderfully wintery fun outside too! Follow the trail and see what they've been up to.
Evenings of Festive Music
Take a seat in the magnificent Great Hall filled with festive Tudor decorations and listen to your favourite Christmas carols and classics sung by local choir, Singing Our Socks Off, on 3, 4 and 5 December. The event includes refreshments served at Home Farm restaurant as part of the ticket.Book your tickets
Christmas Ghost Stories
Don’t be alarmed by the tick of the clock or darkening shadows as you take part in an old Victorian tradition of ghost stories at Christmas. Take a seat in front of the beautifully decorated Great Hall fireplace on a quiet December evening. Listen in close as the Lady in Black returns this Christmas to tell you some of her most spine-chilling ghost stories from historic houses across the land.Book your tickets
Sherlock Holmes' Christmas Casebook
Celebrate the holiday season with a twist of mystery as Don’t Go Into The Cellar presents Sherlock Holmes’ Christmas Casebook. Take a trip to Baker Street and spend Christmas with Sherlock Holmes in this engaging stage show starring award-winning actor Jonathan Goodwin as the famed detective. The show features an original theatrical adaptation of the Conan Doyle classic, "The Adventure of the Blue Carbuncle" and other festive delights.Book your tickets

Tuck into festive food

Take a seat and enjoy delicious festive treats in Home Farm Restaurant every day of the week, 10.30am–3.30pm. Tuck into warming scones, sip festive-flavoured hot drinks or fill up your belly with a tasty meal. Every bite supports the work we do to care for places like Speke Hall for more people to enjoy.

Gift a book this Christmas

Our second-hand bookshop, Speke's Volumes, is a treasure trove of pre-loved stories and located just opposite Home Farm restaurant. You're bound to find a book or two you'll love or that could make the perfect gift for someone special this Christmas. The bookshop is run by volunteers and is usually open every day for a few hours in the early afternoon.
