Heritage Open Days 2026

Clumber Park will offer free admission for all on 18 September 2026. Simply enjoy a stroll around the park or join our volunteers to learn more about the history of this magnificent ducal estate and the ordinary people who cared for it.

This years festival is all about the ordinary working people who cared for Clumber and made it into the extraordinary place we know today. Meet our costumed interpreters around the park to learn about who those people were, from Housekeepers, to Stableboys, to Chauffeurs, to Gardeners.

If you want to dive a bit deeper still, there will be a programme of 30 minute talks taking place throughout the day given by our knowledgeable volunteers.

‘From Carriage to Crankshaft: The Dawn of the Motor at Clumber Park’ - 10am and 12:30pm

'Behind the Scenes in Clumber House' - 11am and 1:30pm

'The Lost Mansion' - 11:30am and 2pm

‘From grandeur to survival - life in the Walled Kitchen Garden 1899-WW2’ - 12pm and 2:30pm

The University of Nottingham Manuscripts and Special Collections Department will also be joining us, giving visitors the opportunity to delve into the archives and discover what they reveal about the ordinary people who worked at Clumber. Find them on the site of the historic mansion.

All talks will take place in wheelchair accessible locations. A hearing loop or headphones are also available if you would like assistance hearing the talks. Please see our website for full information about the accessibility of the site.

Meeting point

The talks and activities will be taking place across the whole park. When you arrive, please ask at Information Point for details of where you will find talks and activities throughout the day.

Suitability for children

This event welcomes children accompanied by adults.

What to bring and wear

This is a predominantly outdoor event, so please dress appropriately for the weather.
