Goldwork Workshop

The workshop offers the opportunity to learn a traditional hand embroidery technique that creates rich textures and a glittering luxurious appearance.

(PLEASE NOTE this workshop takes place from 11am to 3.30pm on Saturday 14 March and finishes with an afternoon session on Sunday 15 March from 2pm to 4pm.)

The workshop offers the opportunity to learn a traditional hand embroidery technique that creates rich textures and a glittering luxurious appearance.

Through sampling and experimenting with a variety of metal threads and techniques, participants will create their own sampler.

Suitable for beginners or those with a little experience wishing to extend their skills.

Mary Sleigh is the tutor for this workshop taking place across a weekend, the Sunday afternoon session to follow on from those on Saturday morning and afternoon. Mary is an experienced City & Guilds tutor and active member of the Embroiderers ‘Guild and Textile Study Group, teaching and exhibiting in the UK.

Material and threads will be provided but you will need to bring a notebook and pencil, 8” embroidery hoop, scissors, needles and pins.

This event will be taking place in the Wyldbore Room which is located on the first floor. Unfortunately this can only be accessed via stairs.
