Join ethical taxidermist Sarah Burhouse of Birdhouse taxidermy as she works through the process of mounting a real bird skin. Ask Sarah any questions you may have or just watch as the bird takes shape. Find out more about what taxidermy is and the process of creating it.

The event will take place in the Saloon, surrounded by the historic taxidermy collection. It will last for the duration of house opening (except when Sarah has a lunch break), visitors can drop in as many times as they wish and stay with Sarah for as much or as little as they like.

There will be small items related to the process, such as a bind up form, that can be handled.

Accessibility

The event takes place on the first floor of the house. Visitors can borrow a wheelchair on this level. Assistance animals welcome, wheelchair available to borrow on first floor. Seating will be available. It is possible to just visit the event and leave again without having to traverse the whole house, just ask for directions at the Entrance Hall.

Other

The bird Sarah will be working on died a natural death. The area can be easily avoided/walked past if you do not wish to engage.
