Botanical Watercolour Workshop
Inspired by Calke's historic herbarium, join artist Kate Dawes for a relaxed botanical illustration class using pen and watercolour.
- Booking essential
This relaxed pen and watercolour workshop with artist Kate Dawes is open to all abilities. Spend time learning different techniques and honing your skills in the house, inspired by Calke's historic herbarium collection. The workshop will be split into two phases, starting with pen drawing, where Kate will showcase different drawing styles and help you to find a technique that suits you. The second part of the workshop will then be 'dry' watercolour, where Kate will support you to find the best watercolour technique to complement your pen work. Kate will offer individual support and guidance throughout to help everyone develop their personal style, understand composition, colour mixing, and achieve a more confident approach to art.
Items from Calke Abbey's historic herbarium collection and seasonal flowers and plants from Calke’s gardens will be provided for inspiration. By the end of the workshop, you will have created an A4 botanical artwork to take home with you.
Tea and coffee will be available throughout the workshop. Suitable for all abilities from absolute beginners to the more experienced artist. All materials supplied.
