Summer of Play: Hobby Horse Trials 21 and 22 July

Giddy up! It's time for Longshaw's inaugural Hobby Horse Trials, perfect for families.

Choose one of our wooden hobby horses as your trusty steed and take part in jumping, dressage and gymkhana challenges.

Free of charge, no booking required. This event is designed for children aged 3-11.

On Tuesdays and Wednesdays throughout the summer holidays, join in the drop in activities in the Moorland Discovery Centre as part of our Summer of Play activities.

The basics

Accessibility

Accessible parking is available in Woodcroft car park. There is a slope down to the Moorland Discovery Centre itself, where there is an accessible toilet and baby change.

Suitability for children

Children welcome, must be accompanied by an adult.

What to bring and wear

Please wear appropriate clothing and footwear for being outside in the summer.

Archaeology family walk 

A moderate 1.7-mile walk aimed at young people to inspire and discover the history of the Longshaw, through the archaeological evidence of its past users including travellers, farmers and soldiers of WW1 and Victorian visitors.
