Sutton Hoo 1400 - Anglo-Saxon Living History with Wulfheodenas and friends
As we celebrate what is believed to be 1400 years since the Sutton Hoo Great Ship Burial join Anglo-Saxon living history groups Wulfheodenas, Thegns of Mercia, Moro Music and friends from across the world for a weekend packed full of activities.

Enjoy the sights and sounds of the Anglo-Saxon world as we are joined by living history experts from across the world celebrating what is believed to be 1400 years since the Great Ship Burial.
Wulfheodenas are leading the event but will be joined by friends including Thegns of Mercia and Moro Music who will be performing with their Anglo-Saxon replica lyres.
Walk through the Anglo-Saxon camp to see craftsmen hard at work, warriors dressed ready for battle and King Raedwald himself in his ceremonial regalia. There will be some special timed activities over the course of the weekend as follows:
Saturday 11.30: "Voices of the Royal Hall", performance excerpts of Anglo-Saxon poems in Old English and alliterative verse translation. 1.30: Remaking the Mound 1 treasures talk in the dining room in Tranmer House. 2.30: Live forging - The Saxon Smiths demonstrate the making of a spear. 4.00: Procession to Mound One and tributes to the King. Over 80 re-enactors from across the UK and Europe come together to celebrate the 1400th anniversary of Mound One.
Sunday 11.30: "Voices from the Burial Ground", Reimagining music and language from the time of Sutton Hoo with Moro Music in the dining room in Tranmer House. 1.30: Mathematics and Garnets talk. 2.30: Textile talk and demonstrations exploring Anglo-Saxon weaving and dyeing techniques. 3.30: Engineering Metals at Sutton Hoo talk in the dining room in Tranmer House.
