Local Craft Makers Pop-up Shop at Bateman's

This autumn be inspired by the craftsmanship of local artists in the home of Rudyard Kipling.

  • Booking not needed
  • Free event (admission applies)

Explore locally made crafts in our pop-up shop. With a selection of jewellery, quilts and ceramics all inspired by Sussex.

About the makers:

Louise Bell is a quilt artist who makes patchwork and appliqué quilts. Louise uses Liberty lawns for their rich and colourful designs as well as American cottons and silks.

Annie McCabe is a flame glass artist who hand makes each of the glass beads used in her contemporary jewellery using the 14th century Venetian techniques of flameworking. Annie’s inspiration comes from the natural world, particularly the landscape, sea and the Downs near Brighton.

Justine Munson is a porcelain artist and Sussex Guild member who creates unique, hand-crafted porcelain pieces inspired by nature. From her Eastbourne studio, she builds and decorates each form by hand, producing delicate, finely fired works known for their translucency, strength, and individually signed finish.

Wendy Dolan is a textile artist, specialising in freehand machine embroidery and creative stitching techniques. Wendy uses fabrics and threads to create textured designs, she regularly shows her work at exhibitions and craft shows across the country.

There will be an opportunity to talk to the artists about their work, enjoy demonstrations and buy their crafts.
