Local craft makers pop-up shop

This late summer be inspired by local craft makers in the home of Rudyard Kipling.

  • Booking not needed
  • Free event (admission applies)

Explore locally made crafts in our pop-up shop. With a selection of glass jewellery, quilts and textile art all inspired by Sussex, there’s something for everyone.

About the makers:

Louise Bell is a quilt artist who makes patchwork and appliqué quilts for beds and walls. Louise uses Liberty lawns for their rich and colourful designs as well as American cottons and silks.

Wendy Dolan is textile artist. Wendy’s original, stitched pictures and hangings are inspired by landscape, architecture and natural forms. She combines techniques including fabric layering and painting with hand and machine stitching, creating richly textured surfaces.

Annie McCabe is a flame glass artist who hand makes each of the glass beads used in her contemporary jewellery using the 14th century Venetian techniques of flameworking (sometimes called lampworking). Annie’s inspiration comes from the natural world, particularly the sea, beach and the Downs near Brighton.

There will be an opportunity to talk to the artists about their work, enjoy demonstrations and buy their crafts.
