Special book signing with Axel Scheffler at the Monkey Puzzle Trail at Batemans

Meet Axel Scheffler and get your book signed at Bateman's.

Axel Scheffler, the illustrator of many family-favourite picture books, including The Gruffalo, Monkey Puzzle and Room on the Broom, will be meeting young readers and signing books at Batemans in celebration of the Monkey Puzzle Trail. This signing event is ticketed, with 75 places available for families who sign up HERE before the day. Axel will gladly sign your one favourite book from home, as well as any books that you purchase on the day.

Time: Tickets available 12.30 - 14.00

One book per ticket.

This event takes place outside, please wear clothing appropriate for the weather. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Axel Scheffler was born in Hamburg, Germany in 1957. He studied history of art in Hamburg, before moving to the United Kingdom to study illustration at Bath Academy of Art in 1982. Since then he has worked as a freelance illustrator in London. He is best known for the children's books he has illustrated through his partnership with author, Julia Donaldson. Their first book together A Squash and a Squeeze was published in 1993 and has sold 2.2 million copies worldwide. The duo then went on to create The Gruffalo, which has sold over 19 million copies, in 119 languages and dialects. He lives in London.
