Speaker Series - Latest updates on National Trust Archaeology in South Wales
Join us to listen, learn and discover with NT Archaeologist David Thomas as he covers the history and archaeology of South Wales, stretching from the coast of the UK's first Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty to the peaks of Bannau Brycheiniog.

On the last Thursday of every month, join us at Aberdulais Falls for our Speaker Series to listen, learn and discover something new with a range of guest speakers sharing their knowledge and experiences on a variety of fascinating topics.
This month, National Trust Archaeologist David Thomas will explore the history and archaeology of South Wales, providing a background to the archaeology at Aberdulais and a round-up of the latest archaeology news in South Wales, covering places like Bacon Hole on the Gower, Dolaucothi and the Pembrokeshire Coast.
The talk will take place in our second-hand bookshop from 10:30am to 11:30am on Thursday 27 August 2026.

- Meeting point
Please arrive at our second-hand bookshop 10 minutes before the talk begins. Located just beyond the entrance gate, turn left into our wonderfully atmospheric bookshop.
- What to bring and wear
Feel free to bring along some snacks to enjoy, and tea and coffee will be available. As the site will be open to the public, you're also welcome to bring a picnic to enjoy afterwards.

Tickets will be available until 8:00am on the morning of the event. If spaces are still available, walk-ins will be accommodated on a first-come, first-served basis. Upcoming talks to keep an eye out for: - 24 September: History of Aberdulais Tinworks and Waterfall, with Aberdulais Tour Guide Volunteers Ian Govier and Daron Herbert. Please note: This talk will include a tour of the site, with some areas only accessible via stairs. Wherever possible, alternative information, including photographs and descriptions, will be provided to help ensure all participants can engage with the experience. - 29 October: What’s a Community Hub?
