May half term at Powis Castle and Garden

From ‘Powering Up’ the fun in the castle to hunting for tigers in the garden, there’s adventure waiting around every corner at Powis this half term

  • Booking not needed
  • Free event (admission applies)

This half term we’re ‘Powering Up’ the fun as we celebrate the start of a major project to upgrade the wiring within this 13th-century castle. As you explore the ornate State Rooms, discover how the castle has been carefully modernised over the centuries, and step into the role of a castle electrician with plenty of hands-on activities along the way. Keep an eye out for adorable felt mice in their high vis jackets, hidden throughout the castle - you’ll spot them fixing wiring, carrying tools, and hard at work in the most unexpected places. How many will you spot?

Outside, head into the garden and continue the adventure with the Tiger Trail. Follow the paw prints along the elegant Italianate Terraces and through the beautiful Edwardian Formal Garden, keeping an eye out for flashes of black and orange as you go. Look closely and you’ll spot paws emerging from hedges, tails slipping behind walls, and ears peeking over bushes. How many tigers will you glimpse before coming face to face with one at the end?

Castle open 11am-3.30pm (last entry 3pm), the garden is open 10am-5pm (last entry 4pm). Trails are free but normal admission prices apply.
