The Duke’s Theatre Company presents Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, a bold reimagining of the iconic tragedy directed by Joseph Pitcher. Pitcher’s acclaimed credits include Gypsy (UK Theatre Award for Best Musical Production) and My Fair Lady at The Mill at Sonning, and Macbeth at the Salomons Theatre, Tunbridge Wells. Returning to the company following Macbeth (2025), this vibrant production also features original music by composer Rob Millett (Rambert Dance Company and The Royal Opera House, The National Theatre and Shakespeare’s Globe).

Suitability

Recommended for ticket holders aged 7+, viewer discretion is advised.

Meeting point

The performance takes place in the Formal Garden. Please park in the main car park and our team will direct you to the garden entrance.

What to bring and wear

This performance is an outdoor performance. We recommend that you bring blankets/chairs/cushions etc. to sit on. Come prepared for the weather with warm coats and waterproofs.

Accessibility

The performance area is about a 10 minute walk from the car park. Step free access is available, however please note there are steep slopes. Accessible drop-off and pick-up point available, please contact Powis Castle and Garden for further details. The production is supported by a PA system, with each actor individually amplified.

Other

Advisory note: This performance of Romeo and Juliet contains themes and depictions of war, death, suicide and violence, which may be distressing for some viewers. Viewer discretion is advised, and it is recommended for ticket holders aged seven and above. The performance will continue in all weather, except in extreme circumstances. We ask that you don’t bring umbrellas as these can obscure the view for other people in the audience. 6:00pm start time, gates open from 5:15pm. The performance will last approximately 2 hours (including a 15 minute interval). Refreshments will be available at the Garden Coffee Shop, and picnics are welcome at this performance.
