During a Bushcraft Taster Session you will be introduced to one of a range of core bushcraft skill-sets, from fire making and shelter construction to using hand tools and carving wood. Join our expert Bushcraft Instructors, Leonie and Thryn, for a practical, hands-on experience at the beautiful Hardcastle Crags.

*Suitable for adults and young people age 12+ except those events where age 8+ tickets are also available (all persons under 18 must be accompanied by an adult)

Friday 17 April 2026 6:15 PM - 7:45 PM: Introduction to Fire Making: How to light a fire safely

Friday 8 May 2026 6:15 PM - 7:45 PM: Tools & Woodcraft: Learn how to use the essential bushcraft tools safely.

Saturday 30 May 2026 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM: Natural Shelter Building: Learn how to use materials from the woodland to make a shelter.

Tuesday 9 June 2026 6:15 PM - 7:45 PM: Water Sourcing and Purification: As one of your top survival priorities, wild water sourcing and purifying is a fantastic skill to learn.

Thursday 2 July 2026 6:15 PM - 7:45 PM: Fire by Friction: Learn ancestral firemaking techniques in this introduction to friction fires.

Monday 27 July 2026 12:30 PM - 2:00 PM: Tarp Shelters & Easy Survival Knots: Stay dry in the wild, whatever the weather. You'll learn several bushcraft knots & handy tarp set-ups for different scenarios.
