50 things to do before you're 11 3/4

Building dens in the West Wood

Start your summer outdoor adventures by challenging the whole family to complete as many 50 things activities as they can during a visit to Wallington.

Kick start your summer holiday fun with outdoor adventures inspired by The National Trust’s “50 things to do before you are 11 ¾” activities.  Pick up a scrapbook when you arrive for the full list and see how many you can complete during your visit.

Here are a few suggestions to get you started...

No. 1 Climb a tree
The Nootka Cypress tree in front of the house has lots of low branches and really smooth bark to make climbing it easy peasy, it's no wonder the National Trust named it the best tree to climb in the country.

No. 4 Build a den
There are plenty of den building materials in the West Wood

No. 11 Go on a really long bike ride
Bring your bike and explore the Dragon Cycle Trail, not only will it give you the opportunity to venture further afielf, but you'll also get number 11 checked off your list.

No. 16 Make a daisy chain
Even taking a breather is the chance to complete an activity; how long a chain can you make?

No. 19 Play pooh sticks
Stop on the bridge on the river walk for a traditional game of pooh sticks.

No. 44 Go bird watching
The family friendly wildlife hide is the perfect spot to bird watch.  With lots of tempting feeders, it won't be long before you spy a chaffinch, blue tit or even a woodpecker.

Activities are free but normal admissions charges apply.
