Live Local, Love Winkworth
Every year in late summer we throw a grand woodland party for the community, known as Live Local, Love Winkworth. We invite local craftspeople, charities, bands and dancers to transform the arboretum into a hubbub of activities and stalls for all ages. We even waive the entrance fee for the day, so everyone can enjoy the party atmosphere.
Sunday 3 September, 11am-4pm · Free
This year we're welcoming a huge variety of local craftspeople, artists, musicians, animal groups and more, including:
- George's Coastal Jazz Band
- Fleur-de-Lys Morris Dancers
- Guildford Beekeepers
- GPR Wood Turning
- West Weald Fungus Recording Group
- Woody Wonders Twig Pencils
- Wey Valley Lace
- Robin Maher, Blacksmith
- Pure Chocolate Truffles
- Willow Baskets
- Harry's Hot Chillis
- Surrey Dormouse Group
- Surrey Bat Group
- Surrey Wildlife Trust
The friendly folks at HH Archery are setting up targets in the meadow and will be on hand to help you hit the bull's eye. All ages welcome.
Will you be a butterfly? A tiger? Or maybe a fox? Get your face painted by one of our talented artists to get in the party spirit.
Birds of prey
Get up close with these magnificent birds in Badger's Bowl. If you smile nicely, you might even get to participate in one of the falconry displays, kindly led by Huxley's Birds of Prey.
Join outdoor group Wild Learning to get started in the world of natural play and bushcraft.
We cut the meadows every year to help keep the habitat healthy for all sorts of plants and animals. Another benefit? You get to play in the cuttings!
If you'd like to participate, please get in touch with us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
