Writing Places festival comes to A la Ronde

As part of this year’s Writing Places programme, we will be welcoming author Jane Feaver to A la Ronde for a three month residency which will begin in July.

What is Jane's background?

Jane is a novelist and short story writer.  Her first novel, According to Ruth, was shortlisted for the Author's Club Best First Novel Award and the Dimplex Prize. Her latest novel is An Inventory of HeavenLove me Tender, a collection of inter-linked stories was shortlisted for the Edge Hill Short Story Prize.  She has published stories in Comma Press's BioPunk: Stories from the far Side of Research, The Manchester Review and the Kenyon Review, and has just completed work on re-tellings of English Fairy Tales for OUP, The Well at the World's End.  Jane has been a regular tutor for the Arvon Foundation.  She is a lecturer in creative writing at the University of Exeter.

What will Jane be offering our visitors?

During Jane's stay at A la Ronde, she will be at the property for two days each week. Part of that time, she will be working on writing about A la Ronde and also have time to meet visitors.

She will also be holding workshops during her three month residency (admission charges apply).  The final workshop she will be offering is:

24 September - 11am - 1pm - Resonant objects – Maximum 15 spaces so booking essential. Drawing inspiration from the Parminter's fascination with feather and shell-work, Jane Feaver will lead a writing workshop that will explore the properties and metaphoric possibilities of feathers and shells.
