Christmas at Allan Bank
Christmas may look at little different at Allan Bank this year, but we are planning on sprinkling a bit of Christmas magic around our woodland grounds. Wrap up warm and join us with your family for fires, lights, woodland adventures and festive treats on weekends this December.
4 - 20 December: Friday - Sunday, 10.30am-4pm. Grounds and groundfloor of the house.
27 - 31 December: Daily, 10.30am-4pm. Grounds only.
We've introduced advance booking to keep everyone safe and maintain social distancing. To avoid disappointment please book in advance, where space is available pre-booking may not always be necessary.
Winter in the woods
It’s a great time of year to explore the grounds at Allan Bank and our Christmas fairies have done a little bit of decorating. Follow the flickering lights of our upcycled tin lanterns as you wander around the Allan Bank grounds. (Sturdy boots recommended as well as a torch later in the day).
Warm up by the fire
There’s nothing quite like a real fire at Christmas, so this year we have brought the fires outside into the garden where you can warm yourself as you enjoy at the views of Grasmere lake.
From 27-30 December we’ll be roasting chestnuts on an open fire. Why not bring some marshmallows along and have a go at toasting them on the fire?
Come along on Sunday 20 December between 11am and 3pm to hear our Saxophone duet playing live Christmas classics.
Head off on a nature scavenger hunt around the grounds, look out for Foxy around the trail to get activity ideas and hints for what to forage for. Kids can pick up a basket to keep their treasures in.
Food and drink
We are all due a treat or two this Christmas aren’t we? With that in mind in the run-up to Christmas our little trailer will be serving up suitably warming drinks and spiced sweet treats.
Take a look inside
We just couldn’t let Christmas pass without decorating the house and as usual our merry band of Christmas decorators have done a grand job. Wander through the ground floor of the house to see their handywork.
Visits to the house are limited to allow for social distancing and entry is not guaranteed on the day you visit. In line with government guidance, you're required to wear a face covering in most enclosed spaces. Please bring one with you.
