Things to do with the kids this half-term

On the hunt for things to do this half-term? Look no further, we have all you and your family need to have a great time at Allan Bank.

Woodland Pumpkin Trail

The Allan Bank woodland has been taken over by spooky pumpkins, venture into the woods this half-term and see how many you can find… don’t forget to check inside the spine-tingling tunnel. Draw the faces as you go and spot 6 or more to win a prize. £1.50.

Story letters – the origins of the Tale of Peter Rabbit

Did you know that if it wasn’t for Canon Rawnsley, you may never have heard of Peter Rabbit? The tale of Peter Rabbit started out an illustrated letter, but Canon Rawnsley saw promise in it and encouraged Beatrix Potter to get her tale published. Take a seat in the study and have a go at writing your own story letter to someone special at home.

Spot a squirrel

Allan Bank is one of the best places in Grasmere to see our native red squirrels. We work hard to make the grounds their ideal home, spending over £900.00 on feed every year. You can use our binoculars in Wordsworth’s Study to spot one of them on the feeders outside.

Escape the chill
