Stonehenge and Avebury Walking Challenge

Thistles and trees

Walk in the footsteps of our ancestors in this iconic landscape; rich in archaeology and supporting a wealth of wildlife and plants.

Embrace the outdoors

This is a series of eight walks taking you all over the thought-provoking and inspiring landscapes of the World Heritage Site.

Each walk varies in length from between 3km (approx 2 miles) to 9.5km (approx. 6 miles), four are located in the Avebury landscape and four in the Stonehenge landscape.

Why not challenge yourself to complete these walks throughout the year?

The walking challenge packs cost £10 and you'll receive eight printed walks, which also describe the wildlife, plants and archaeology you may see on your journey and a handy map holder, as well as a voucher for a free hot drink at Avebury.  Click here to sign up now.

The funds raised from selling these packs goes directly towards caring for these iconic landscapes.

However, if you prefer, the walks will be available individually on the Avebury and Stonehenge Landscape websites as a free download in the near future.

Can you 'Walk for the Wall'?

There's also an opportunity to challenge yourself even further and help raise money for this year's fundraising project by seeking sponsorship for your walks via JustGiving. There's no obligation to do this but if you would like to join in then click here Raising sponsorship (PDF / 0.3MB) download for information. This year we're raising money to rethatch Avebury Manor Garden church wall - you can find out more about it here.  Should you have any queries on this please email avebury@nationaltrust.org.uk.

We hope that you enjoy the walking challenge.
