Dog walking at Basildon Park
Dogs on leads are welcome in the garden and parkland at Basildon Park all year round from 10am until 5pm, or dusk if earlier. Please help us by keeping your dog on a lead and picking up after it.
There are four great parkland walks at Basildon that are ideal for exploring with your dog year round. The walks range in length from 0.5 miles to 3 miles. For a shorter walk take a stroll around the gardens towards the back on the house.
During Spring and Summer we’re home to cattle so please help us and walk your dog on a lead. If cattle approach it may be appropriate to let your dog off the lead.
Visit the tea room after your walk for a refreshing snack. In better weather there are tables outside the tea room which you can sit at with your dog. There are also tables in our Old Kitchen which may be more suitable for you and your dog in the cooler months. Don't forget to help yourself to complimentary dog biscuits. We are open 10am-5pm, or dusk if earlier.
Paws for thought
Please feel free to use the seating in the visitor centre courtyard, why not sit down and relax after your walk? A water bowl is on hand for thirsty dogs, just let one of our team members know if it needs topping up.
Our parking offers limited shade, and it's available on a first come first served basis. Our car park team are on hand to help if you do need to find some shade for your pet pooch, and will do their best to help. Please be aware that our car park can reach capacity early during school holidays so we advise arriving early.
